MAKE YOUR STORY HAPPEN

The Advanced Diploma was created to address the specific industry need of producing employable screen-ready actors upon graduation. In addition to world class acting training staffed by some of Australia’s leading tutors, our course is unique in its focus on the multidisciplinary production skills that enable actors to create their own employment opportunities. You will graduate from ISA with the skills to conceive, write, and produce your own creative work, to ‘build your brand’, and to actively negotiate the areas of self-promotion, business and health and well-being.

The result of your training will be strong skills in all aspects of acting for screen and stage, detailed knowledge of the ability to generate your own work and opportunities. These skills will be on display during your final semester where you will deliver a showreel and voicereel and perform in both a graduation play production and a showcase for an audience of invited industry guests.

Our Advanced Diploma of Acting for Contemporary Screen Media is our flagship acting course that will provide you with the skills required to cultivate a long-lasting career as an actor.

The Advanced Diploma is a two year accredited course; completed over four 20-week semesters, four days per week.

Throughout the two years, you will develop core acting skills and explore multiple acting techniques and methodologies to allow you to formulate your own individual approach.

To maintain a robust acting career in today’s industry, you must have more to offer than the ability to ‘act well’. You must have current knowledge of the industry, and the determination and capacity to create your own work. Our aim is to produce excellent storytellers; with a focus on bridging the gap between acting student and industry professional.

ISA is the only Registered Training Organisation in the world to deliver the Advanced Diploma of Acting for Contemporary Screen Media.

OUR DIFFERENCE

PRODUCTION STUDIOS

Our facilities are built for actors and filmmakers not educators. When you study at ISA, you study in a
purpose built facility that is industry standard.

not just a number

At ISA you experience a personal training culture where you are not just a student number amongst hundreds of other students. Our classes are small, our selection process rigorous and our lecturers inspiring. We want you to succeed and most of all, find your own voice.

networking

You study with actors and filmmakers all under the one roof. Our hope is that you will build professional
working relationships that will last a lifetime.

student culture

We believe culture is just as important as outcome. We want students to enjoy the process of learning. Challenges are part of the process and we’ve found the best way for students to grow as artists is to support them. At ISA you’ll find a culture of support and inspiration.

Creative Habit Methodology

Throughout your training at ISA, you will engage in the development of foundational acting techniques; gaining a clear understanding of Stanislavski’s system, Given Circumstances, Character Objective and Action Work.

You will be expected to work diligently throughout the process with a focused and concentrated attention to the work of the ‘Creative Habit’ – applying the technique to assigned texts and practicing it’s application to solve problems within a given scene. The Creative Habit is a methodology with a series of specific steps; the application and implementation of these steps will be repeated throughout the course using multiple texts, giving you an opportunity to develop your own ‘creative habit’ as an actor.
